Admitted to the Union in the year 1912, Arizona is the 48th state of the United States. It is home to roughly 7,151,502 people, and ranks as the 6th largest state, occupying an area of 295,234 km2. The climate of Arizona is generally on the warmer side, though it varies with respect to area and elevation. Typically, the southern part of the state has a desert-like climate (having mild winters and super-hot summers), while the northern part of the state enjoys more diversity, while Southern Arizona is known for its desert climate, with very hot summers and mild winters. Northern Arizona features forests of pine, Douglas fir, and spruce trees; the Colorado Plateau; mountain ranges (such as the San Francisco Mountains); as well as large, deep canyons, with much more moderate summer temperatures and significant winter snowfalls.
Arizona’s roofs have one key requirement - and that is to be able to successfully withstand the harshness of the relentless summer heat and the battering force of the rains and thunderstorms in the monsoon. Generally speaking, either one of tile or shingle roofing can solve this issue. But of course, the type of roof that actually gets used in a home depends on several other factors, such as budget, location, the type of home in question, the owner’s sense of aesthetics, and technological advances. As mentioned earlier, however, tile and shingle roofing are among the most common choices. Tile roofs offer strength and insulation and that will last for a good number of years before any repair would be needed. Shingle roofing systems offer these same benefits, but with the added advantage of the owner being able to choose from a wide range of designs and patterns. Other than these, foam roofing has become quite popular recently - made from liquid polyurethane foam, it creates the look of a seamless, single sheath, preventing any foreign object to even seep in - all while being much lighter than the other options. Metal roofing are largely used in non-residential structures due to their ability to withstand cyclonic weather and natural disasters in general.
