Roofing Services & Contractors in Wilsall, Montana

Admitted to the Union in the year 1889, Montana is the 41st state of the United States. It is home to roughly 1,084,225 people, and ranks as the 4th largest state, occupying an area of 380,831 km². The state, often referred to as “Big Sky” on account of its abundance of natural scenes and majestic-looking horizons - has one of the coldest climates in the country overall. The state’s climate is characterized by short and cool summers, and comparatively longer mild to cold winters. Montana is divided into two main climatic zones - the western part characterized by a Pacific coastal climate having cooler summers but milder winters, and the eastern part, characterized by warm summers and very cold winters.

The winter-oriented climate and mountainous terrain makes roofs with sloping designs an absolute must here. Popular designs include hip, gable and twin-gable. The main emphasis, however, lies on the materials, as the cold weather can get very harsh and proper insulation is mandatory. Most of the time, roofing materials are used in combination - e.g., metal with rubberized sheets, stone with steel, and asphalt or clay with wood. This dual system allows property owners to take advantage of the strengths of two materials and have the type of resilience and protection they need.
